1 – 200 of 546 Newer› Newest»Crafty tip, crafty tip.... I'm so bad at thinking of things on the spur of the moment. I would say to use a stiletto when sewing to easily control how the pieces go under the needle. Thanks for the chance at you giveaway!
Your giveaway is the first I am entering... Do you feel special hehe... My tip is always iron seams although I do get lazy and measure twice... Which I always do...
Xo Steph
what a great giveaway! Pretty pretty fabric-- I hope I win! My best tip is to be patient and take your time to get the best results!
My Grandfather always uses the very old one of "measure twice, and cut once". I quite often tell myself this as I'm about to cut into some lovely new fabric!
My crafty tip... if there are instructions, always always always read them at least twice before you start your project. it saves a lot of time as you're going through it! thanks for hosting! love the fabric!
lovely fabrics, thank you for this cute price!
a crafty pic? uhm, as a seamstress I can say "iron your fabric"!
Go to all of the crafting blogs for wonderful ideas and inspiration.
316ramirez@gmail.com
Thanks for the opportunity and I hope I win! :)
My best crafty tip is to own multiple seam rippers. I keep one, for example, in my nightstand so when I stack up a pile of stuff that needs to be unsewn I can sit in a comfie place.
My tip is to try something you think is going to be really difficult ... then when you complete it and it looks pretty you feel extra proud! thanks for the chance of winning
My hard learned crafty tip: Create a colour palette or a mood board before deciding on which fabrics to use. Avoids chaotic results.
Love the fabrics :)
My tip is to read pattern instructions from beginning to end before starting to cut. I have learned the hard way! Thanks for the chance to win.
My tip, go on with your pattern making, I just love you're whale. It's to cute, and those bunnies. Just enjoy yourself that's the biggest tip.
Crafty tip - always have everything you need before you start. Nothing like being in the middle of a project and missing something. Thanks - T
My tip is to make things you love and share them with others. Recently I made and sent table runners to two aunts of mine. Not for any particular reason, but doing so brought joy to them and to me.
Love the felt tiaras in your shop - Have a great day - T
Love the Wilbur Whale baby rattle. Too cute!
best crafty tip - try not to be a perfectionist, my philosophy is if it looks perfect, it won't look homemade then you won't stress as much! thanks for the giveaway!
I looked at your shop, love the embroidery hoop wall art!
What pretty fabric! My tip is stay organized, nothing worse than getting half way through a project and not being able to find what you need.
Awesome giveaway-thanks! It sounds stupid, but iron and use lots of pins!
I save all my thread rolls for the kids to make necklaces with. Hot glue on some cute fabric to give it some style.
One of the best tips I can give anyone regarding quilting is to use masking tape to 'mark' straight lines when quilting.
I love the Saturday Swirl skirt!
My best tip is to keep all your regularly-used tools handy...crafting will go much faster!
Measure, and measure again. Thanks for the chance!
great giveaway, crafty tip.... don't let your two year old play with the compartment on your sewing machine (the one which holds the accessories etc) - I just found my button hole foot inside a plastic farmhouse!
Tip? Begin with a clear space and take your time to enjoy the process. Blessings
My crafty tip...stay organized. Everything goes smoothly when things are organized.
My crafty tip is: when you're sewing something from a picture, make sure you've got everything you need even the things that arent pictured!
And thanks for this give-away!
please count me in :))
thanks for the chance!
my tip is.....always wash your fabrics first :)))
Looks like you've got my number one tip down pat - stay organized!
Thanks for the inspiration!
I like to use a bone folder (from paper crafting) to poke out corners I turn right side out, to get a nice sharp edge.
My tip is only sew when the kids are napping/in bed for the night!
My best crafty tip is simply to take time to do it! In our busy lives we need to give ourselves the gift of a creativity break!!
My tip would be to be organized so that you can find everything you need when you want to make something
Such pretty fabrics, I would love to win them. My best crafty tips have all been said: read directions; measure twice, have everything you need up front and enjoy what you are doing. Thanks for the chance to win.
jmniffer at comcast dot net
Pretty newbie to sewing but I've found measuring twice for me is key! lol.
Don't be afraid to use what you've got, chopsticks to turn out fabric, glue stick to gently adhere for sewing, think simple and look around!
A good quality seam ripper is worth its weight in gold.
And as a UK resident, I'm nationally obligated to pick the teatime hair candy as my favorite item in your shop. :)
Hmm . . . crafty tip? Naptime is a great time to get some crafting done. ;)
skooksplayground[at]gmail[dot]com
Crafty tip...I love to used "canned air" like is for computers to clean my sewing machine and serger...works like a charm! Thanks for the fun!
Love your adorable Whale rattle, so sweet! I "heart"-ed it for future reference!
My craft tip? Cut your large pattern pieces first, and that way if you make a mistake and need extra, hopefully it will be the smaller pieces you can work around and use other fabrics for.
I like the Luis and Wilber - mini original paintings from your shop
Crafty tip by me: Build your dream craft nook, don't just make do with whatever spaces you can cobble together! I'm working on mine this summer, and the inspiration and excitement that a thoughtful space with minimal compromise and apology makes is a huge difference-maker!
I love the fabrics... my crafty tip is always have your iron ready.
I'd tell you a joke ,but I always mess up the punchline:( Anyway Thanks for the great giveaway.
Many things in your shop are adorable but I loved the sat. twirly skirt and the little wooden houses.
My absolute best crafty tip? Buy a pre-made meal at the grocery store, and then put it in one of your own cooking dishes. That way, you can craft all day, and your significant other will assume that you peeled all of those potatoes and reduced that sauce yourself.
Hmm...a tip...I would say use lightly-scented linen water (even just the giant bottles from Marshalls or TJ Maxx) while ironing. It'll create steam but it smells so much better than iron water!
Thanks for the giveaway! I am so excited to be getting started sewing with my first ever machine. My most useful tip is something I saw once as a cooking tip but definitely applies to my impetuous crafting style - Always clean up after the step you just finished before starting the next step. I need to remember to do this myself.
crazyncrafty (at) gmail (dot)com
Use paper towel cardboard rolls to store pantographs.
An oldie but a goodie!!
Measure twice, cut once!
My fave tip is about applique. I think that fusible webbing is the worst stuff ever. It sticks up my ironing board and gets all over the place. I have learned that you can use a glue stick to paste your applique pieces in place. It won't screw up your sewing machine or your hand sewing needles and it keeps the pieces in place. Love it!
I love your embroidery hoops - especially 'Grow'
The first crafty tip that popped into my mind was to keep your creative space at least a little bit clean, it's hard to find inspiration in a huge mess!
-craftytofu at yahoo dot com
Use 505 to spray baste instead of pins.
Thanks for the chance to win. My favourite crafty tip -- save your selvages. You can make fabulous stuff from selvages so don't throw out those great scraps!!
My tip don't sew when you are tired, frustrated for mad. thanks for the give a way
I love those fabrics! My crafty tip is don't get frustrated if you sew a wrong seam that is what a seam ripper is for (trust me I have done it a lot of times).
Never be afraid to try something new or different.
My tip is simple - iron, iron, and iron all those seams to make them neat.
When sewing, iron iron iron...and don't drink too much beer when behind the wheel of a sewing machine (ha!). I'm giving away vintage sewing supplies over on my blog, Foziewisp, if you're interested. Thanks so much!
My best advice is to go into every project expecting to rip something out! This greatly helps my attitude when the inevitable happens! j-j-s AT juno DOT com
Thanks for the chance! My crafty tip is to just dive in an try it! Don't be afraid to take a pattern and make it your own.
And I LOVE your Plush Bunny Cuddly...those soooooo cute!
Crafty tip... Iron. If I skip my ironing, my end result is never as pretty.
Thanks for the great giveaway! A clean craft room always makes for an inviting space to work in.
eesuiter (at) hotmail (dot) com
i'd love a chance to win! my crafty tip: be sure of your measurements BEFORE you cut... seems obvious, but i mess that part up all the time! gooberific@yahoo.com
My tip is to use spray adhesive for basting quilts! So much easier and what a time saver!
I love your felt tiaras! Someone made one for me when I was younger and I wore it all the time playing "dress up!"
Stop sewing if you're tired. Things just don't go well at that point.
best craft tip? clean up as you go along so that you don't have to spend a ton of time cleaning when you have the excitement of the finished product...
I have a drawer FULL of ribbon...all lengths, widths, types. To organize it, I use binder clips and wrap them up tightly. Nothing super great but it works! Thanks for the giveaway! Love your Etsy shop!
Megan
schacht.megan@gmail.com
simple but well learned tip. the iron is your friend, don't skip that step! lol
I love the whale rattle, great color combos for babies!
Fun fabric!!! My best crafty advice is to take your time...I always seem to make a mistake when I'm rushing :(
Cute Etsy shop! I love the Pirate Pete tee!
My best crafty tip is to keep a small notebook with you at all times. That way when inspiration strikes, you can sketch or jot down your idea! No more getting mad at yourself for forgetting your brilliance.
I label my sissors, Fabric, Paper.
Mainly for my family I freal out when they want to cut something with the wrong sissors
Hmmm... my craft tip is never pay full price for supplies if you can avoid it!
iowawildflowers at gmail dot com
really love your wooden neighborhood set!
Your personalized super hero capes are adorable! I love them.
What a great give away!
My tip is to always iron fabric before you sew, before you press a seam and then again to set the seam.
Take care
Heather
I love the Lime Splash Kyoko Tunic. Beautiful!
My best crafty tip actually has to do with my resin molding work than sewing.
Note to self: that apron you made to "cook" in that you never wear, wear that when you're doing your messy art projects (you know, the ones where you swear you won't spill, but you always do).
Have lots of scissors around! I have 3 pair in my sewing room, and sometimes I am still looking around for a pair.
Ok, this maybe old hat to everyone else but i only discovered it recently so some others may not know!
Threading a needle. I know you lick the thread, but also lick the needle a little, or transfer some from your finger. Not so it's wet, just a little there. It really helps make the thread and needle like magnets almost!
Best crafty tip? Don't craft while tired! It only leads to mistakes ;)
Oh, that Pirate Pete T is too adorable! I'd buy a bunch for all my girls' little "boyfriends"!
hmm... a crafty tip. use recycled materials for other then their original use. such as jars make great containers for small supplies and pens, rulers, scissors, etc.
p.s. my email is khsmiles@juno.com
For flower fabric bows you really only need to buy 4in of fabric..
I'd so love to win some fabric!!
I have two sewing tips:
1. use plenty of pins
2. if you get frustrated put down the project and come back later.
craftyNHmom@gmail.com
Crafty tip....hmmm... it would have to be the old advice "measure twice, cut once". Your blog is lovely, its nice to find another European blogger!!
You have lovely things in your shop; I think my favourite are the embroidery hoops, they're gorgeous!
Crafty tip - never throw anything away. There is always a use for EVERYTHING when you are crafting!
My tip is to always have a list of what you want to accomplish for the week. It feels SO good to cross things off that list!!!
jinglesells at gmail dot com
My tip is to always read the instructions more than once.
My favorite item in your shop is Lily the Plush Bunny Cuddly!
The hair clips and tunics are adorable.
I love to use baskets for my scraps. I started a new one that is near my machine and when I need to test the stitch, I can grab a small piece that matches what I am working with and use that, to make sure it works with the fabric I am using.
Debbie
Hi Mari, my favorite item: http://www.etsy.com/listing/63964686/embroidery-hoop-wall-art-grow
thank you for opportunity :)
Save all the small scraps for stuffing things! fenna_otten at yahoo dot ca
Best crafty tip: Save everything: You might need it someday.
I like your Luis and Wilber, since I have a sailing theme as my blog and business.
Debbie
I love your Hoopla wall art in your shop. "GROW" beautiful
My best crafty tip? The sharpness of your needle makes a big difference. If you're sewing along and hearing "Ka-chunk ka-chunk ka-chunk," it might be time to change your needle.
And for a bonus, use a safety pin for a stitch/round marker when you crochet.
I keep my quilting/sewing fabrics sorted by type -- Japanese, African, brights, 1930's -- to let the combinations on the shelves inspire me.
Be confident in your craft creations
I like the cuddly bunny, Lizzie, best from your shop.
Thanks for the chance to win. I always wash and iron my new fabrics before folding and putting them away. This way, when the mood strikes, the fabric is all ready to go!
cried2dream at gmail dot com (Joanne)
When trying out new pattern ideas, always do them in paper first, then in free fabric (like random pillow cases with stains on them), THEN in "real" fabric :)
My best crafty tip that works well for me is to clean up the project mess when I finish it before I start another one.
Don't try to sew when a one year old is at your feet!! It can be dangerous to your heath!!
My best tip- put a coffee can on your sewing table, and one by the ironing board and one on the cutting board to collect thread and fabric bits. Oh yeah, you COULD buy a trash can, but I'm cheap.
Crafy tip - take advantage of naptime. :)
mindfulhome at gmail dot com
Fun fabric - thanks for the giveaway!
jmhamlin826 AT yahoo DOT com
What a great giveaway! Favorite crafting tip? It's so so so important to cut fabric accurately and keep a 1/4 inch seam when quilting. Took me 3 quilts to figure that out ;)
fluffysheepquilting(at)gmail(dot)com
my best tip is to get one of those magnets on a telescoping rod, I bought mine at Harbor Freight store and I know car parts stores have them.. when I drop a pin or needle I can take my nifty tool and it will attrach the pin. So no more stepping or losing my pins.
Best crafty tip....."one should not sit on the couch in their comfy pants when there is sewing to be done. Extreme comfort is the killer of motivation."
iron everything. ugh. that's one i really need to remember!
My tip (I had to learn it): when you designed and made a new item you should write down every small detail about it as even if you think that you can remember everything later on, truth is you really can’t.
My favorite item in your shop is: Pirate Pete Stylin T.
And I love this photo, he is so cute!
Thank you!
Crafty tip: finish one project before starting another, else you'll end up living in fabric/yarn land with no finished items!
Oh. My. Gosh. I just love those fabrics that you've chosen. I'm having a baby girl this fall, and my head is just swimming with cute little things that I could make with those remnants.
My best crafty tip? Try to finish one project before getting started on a new one. I'm still working on this myself! Thanks for the giveaway!
missa.moe@gmail.com
I love the little wooden village in your shop. It's so cute! I know my kids would love it.
missa.moe@gmail.com
My best crafty tip? Send the kids to Nana's house.
Don't be afraid of color!
Lovely giveaway.. my best crafty tip is always write all your ideas & patterns down.. I always think I'll remember those moments of inspiration but never do...
veryberryhandmade at gmail dot com
Read twice, measure twice and if you mess up drink twice...what? It works for me!
oooo, i love those fabrics! crafty tip...wash your fabric before you sew! and use an iron : )
http://lulobird.blogspot.com
always put your own twist on things!
crafty tip: measure twice - cut once! learned that the hard way (a few times!)
hmmm... I guess my best crafty tip is to be ok with imperfection-- you'll enjoy your projects much more that way!
my tip: know when to stop adding details to a project! Sometimes keeping it simple and neat is better, otherwise, you might get lost in the details!
My favorite thing in you shop? well actually there are two: the little wooden village and the embroidery wall art, grow.
thanks again for the giveaway!
I buy replacement blades for my rotary cutter at Harbour Freight for $1 each. They are such a good price I never hesitate to change my blade.
Best crafty tip? Always keep a sense of humor while you're creating.
My best crafty tip is don't be afraid to try. So many people want to try new things, but their fear of failing keeps them from giving it a go.
Limor477 at aol dot com
Best tip - if at first you don't succeed, try, try again!
Favorite shop item - Poetic Dreamer tunic - cute!
Everything in your shop is gorgeous but my favorite is the Lime Splash Kyoko Tunic.
limor477 at aol dot com
My tip. Try using your scraps up first before buying more fabric.
My favorite item in your shop are the little wooden houses, so cute. Thanks.
My tip is boring, put your stuff away when you're done. It's so much easier if you know where things are after the creative whirlwind has calmed down.
Hmm.....don't let your 3 year old anywhere near the good sewing scissors - don't ask me how I know:-)
don't be afraid to use random household items to help you complete a project. sometimes i'll just stroll around the house looking for something that may be able to help me, be it a shape or tool.
i have a pet rabbit so i love the 'plush bunny cuddly' in any print.
My favorite crafty tip: if you want to make any progress on your crafts, forget housework (and just dont invite anyone over) :)
My favorite crafty tip: if you want to make any progress on your crafts, forget housework (and just dont invite anyone over) :)
Best tip...self-threading needles! Thanks for the chance for the lovely giveaway!
My crafty tip - next time you spill beads all over the floor put a tight over the end of your vacuum cleaner and you can suck them on to it and collect them all really quickly!
Gem
x
Ooh, so much pretty!
My best crafty tip is definitely this: know when to stop! That one last seam when you're already too tired is just going mess everything up and take triple the time to fix. Ask me how I know...
I also took a look at your shop and your magnetic hair clips are pretty genius! I'm a sucker for practical, multi-purpose pretties.
Hmmm, in my experience blogs are better than books!
My best tip is to leave your husband at home when you go to the craft store! :)
Great giveaway!
Have a really, really good iron and use it often!
Oh gosh, I have no crafty tips as a newbie sewer. I'm using a seam ripper more often than not. How about try not to jam said seam ripper into your thumb more than 3 times per project?
My best tip - clean under the bobbin case regularly! Thanks for the giveaway!
My best crafty tip is to give the kids thier own craft project to work on while you're doing yours - that way you don't have quite as much "help" to slow you down and they get to have crafty fun too!
What a fun prize! I have some projects in mind for some of those fabrics already. :)
My best crafting tip right now is to get a Pinterest account. If you don't know it's like bookmarks but with pictures and organization. I can now see all of the things I hope to make and have a quick reference for ideas when I need a gift or something.
Thanks for the chance to win!
searchingoutsimple at comcast dot net
Don't rush ironing. It never works out well!
What a lovely assortment of scraps. I would agree with reading the directions thoroughly before starting a project. It saves a lot of frustration.
Your bunny cuddlies are just too adorable!
I like the Garden Splash Kyoko Tunic.
My best sewing tip would be to make sure you iron your fabrics really really well before you cut them. I made this mistake before and ended up with not so even lines.
I have found it helpful to keep and extra pin case next to my sewing machine.
lindsay.forgette at gmail dot com
My tip is to pin, pin, pin
Crafty tip--I know I'll sound like a mom here, but clean up as you go. There's nothing worse than wasting precious crafting time hunting for your scissors!
Thank you for participating in Giveaway Day!
love the fabric. my tip is to stay organized. taking the time to tidy up after a project keeps my creatively flowing the next time i take a minute to work. i have really enjoyed reading the other tips! thanks for the giveaway and the clever entry.
i really like the peasant tunic in raspberry...but my favorite is poetic dreamer.
My crafty tip is to follow your inspiration - you never know what sort of fabulous things might happen! I love the Red Hot Chili Peppers, btw, thanks or the song!!!!
piperbellaboutique@gmail.com
I definitely recommend measure twice cut once after messing up with a pair of expensive curtains. My other tip is to stop drooling over so many wonderful blogs and start sewing. I find that last one REALLY difficult :)
My crafty tip...don't be afraid to try something new!
The Wilbur Whale plush baby rattle is so cute!
Rotary carpet cutting blades from Harbor Freight substitute perfectly in your rotary cutter if it fits blades 1.75in in diameter. I've heard this from others, so I've bought them for my next replacement. They are less than $2 for 2 blades!
I like the Frog prince embroidery. Thx!
Crafty tip: Read all directions before you start!!!!!
The best tip is one everyone already knows...iron everything!!!
Cute studio space! I find that my sewn projects always come out better if I take the time to iron all my seams as I go, as tedious as that seems at the time.
my tip is always worth with fabric/materials you love. makes it way more fun!
My tip? Keep the seam ripper within arms reach at all times!!
Oh my goodness! Everything in your shop is SO cute! I love the tunics the most!
Craft tip - hmm... don't be afraid to go out of your comfort box - even if it doesn't work the first time it is certain to lead to a new adventure!
Andrea
andreajoyful@hotmail.com
Always share your talent. Someone will love you forever for teaching them to sew and do it out of the goodness of your heart!
My go to tip is to use Color Catchers to wash your quilt the first time!!Thanks for the giveaway.
my fave item at the store ... that was a hard one but i am going to go with the pacifer clip for girls - it woudl look pretty on my neice
andrea
andreajoyful@hotmail.com
tip=if it's not working out, take a deep breath and come back to it.
great giveaway! one of the best i've seen!
i love the wooden village!
For me the main one is look twice before you cut. Do not just lay the ruler down and then cut, you have a great chance of messing up. I don't know how many time that little factoid has save my fabric. Your "scraps" are beautiful. I love the colors. Thank you!
crafty tip: use freezer paper for patterns- just iron onto your fabric, cut and re-use! Love the blog, love the giveaway. Thanks!
sforslund at yahoo dot com
Tip - (for those of you who sew with little children around...I speak from experience) Always unplug your sewing machine from the outlet rather than from the machine when you're taking a break. Metal tweezers can inadvertently get poked into the female end of the cord and cause sparks, smoke, shocks and other mayhem! ~ 4mrsgaskell{AT}gmail{DOT}com
I'm so new to quilting that my tips are probably silly, but one thing is to always make sure you're sewing the correct sides together! A few too many seamripper situations there...
almondpanda AT gmail DOT com
My tip is to iron seams open and true up your blocks as often as you can!
I'm really liking your Garden Splash Kyoko Tunic. Adorable! 4mrsgaskell{AT}gmail{DOT}com
Crafty tip...cover a wooden TV table with padding and ironing cloth and set it up beside your machine with iron. You will be able to sew and iron without getting up! Love mine!!
Thanks for the chance to win this lovely fabric!
Paulette
My best tip is always to drive with your eyes open!
I was sewing leather without the right foot, so I sprinkle a little bit of baby powder over it and I sew it perfectly.wildkitten.handcrafts/at/gmail/dot/com
tip: never do any crafting after midnight...
